Gifting with Intention

Gifting with Intention

It’s that time of year again, the time when we have to think creatively and carefully about just the right presents for family members, friends, co-workers, teachers, or anyone else that we want to show appreciation. Gifting someone something special can be a meaningful gesture for both the giver and the receiver. It’s not only about picking out an item you know the recipient will love; it’s also about infusing each present with positive energy so that their spirit is lifted and inspired when they open it. In this article, I'm going to share my favorite ways to put an extra touch of care into gifting. No matter what type of gift or who it's for, these tips will surely have your gifts radiating with joy!

Intention: Before heading out into the chaos of holiday shopping, take a breath and set an intention: Sit quietly and think about the receiver. What memories come up? What makes you smile? You don’t have to think about the perfect gift, just the person themselves. Drop into your heart center and ask to be led to the perfect present for the individual. Then let it go. As you shop, keep your eyes out for something that reminds you of the individual. You will be surprised how many items seem to pop out of nowhere. Trust the guidance. Even if the item appears too small or silly, it could be precisely what the person needs to bring a smile to their face.

Think Outside the Box: One of the best ways to make a gift memorable is to choose something unique that you know the recipient will love. This could be anything from a vintage book to a piece of jewelry to tickets to an event. Whatever you choose, make sure it is something that you know they will appreciate and treasure. A gift that shows you pay attention to what they enjoy.

Get Creative With the Wrapping: One of the simplest ways to make a gift extra special is to get creative with the wrapping. Instead of using store-bought paper, try wrapping the gift in brown craft paper and decorating it with stamps, stickers, or ribbons. If you're feeling creative, you could hand-paint the wrapping paper.

Show Gratitude: Something as simple as writing I appreciate you on the tag is enough to make another feel loved. You could attach a card where you write about how you see them as a gift and how they have impacted your life if it’s someone you care deeply for.

Infusing the gift: It’s easier than you think to imbue objects with energy. Think about what the receiver means to you and what that person could use more of in their life. Are they going through a tough time? Have they recently lost someone? Are they stressed out? Etc. Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths, and think about who you are giving the gift. Sometimes we are required to gift people we’re not feeling too optimistic about for whatever reason. You can still follow the guidelines, and you might be surprised to find your feelings for them have lifted or they are more friendly toward you. Let’s say someone is stressed. Bring yourself to a place of peace, hold the gift in your hands, drop your awareness into your heart, close your eyes and feel the energy radiating from your hands into the present. Sit for a couple of minutes, smile, and give thanks for the energy. If it is someone you love deeply, you can infuse the gift with love or passion. If someone is sad, you can call forth the energy of joy. You get the picture. Whatever you think would be most beneficial can be infused into the gifts.

The holidays are a wonderful time to remember all that we have to be grateful for and to celebrate by giving back. By gifting positive intentions, we spread love and light throughout the world. What better way to show our holiday spirit than by making the world brighter? So go out there and gift away!
